OFF THE BEATEN TACK founder and business owner James Elliott, also known as ‘Skipper Jimmy’
Jimmy is a Commercially Endorsed RYA Offshore Yachtmaster, who has over 17 years experience working within the sailing industry.
Jimmy is qualified to skipper sailing yachts and motor sailors up to 250 tons and is capable of sailing his yacht alone but loves to involve his guest crew and enable them to help sail the yacht as much or as little as they wish.
Over the last few years Jimmy has travelled the world and sailed thousands of miles in all conditions and worked on a variety of modern and classic yachts. He has a trans-Atlantic crossing under his belt, and has sailed as far afield as Norway, the Andaman Sea & Gulf of Phuket, as well as extensively in the Mediterranean, and has a wealth of experience cruising the Greek Ionian, Aegean and Adriatic Seas.
First Mate Carla
Carla has sailed with Jimmy and Off The Beaten Tack for 8 seasons as First Mate and Hostess in the mediterranean & Greek islands, as well as the Andaman sea and Gulf of Phuket.
Carla is a great cook, the perfect BBQ hostess, fun and attentive with a wicked ‘Yorkshire lass’ sense of humour. Carla’s role includes guest relations, helping on deck, setting sails, anchoring and mooring in harbours. She’ll always be on hand to advise guests who want to get involved while sailing and will point out the best kept secrets ashore. If you ask her very nicely she can even cut your hair as she is a whizz with a pair of scissors.
Aella - Salty sea Dog
Aella is friendly Greek Rescue from the island of naxos who joined the OTBT crew in 2016.
Aella has the Important role of keeping the kids distracted and the guest crew motivated & fit by getting them to take her for walks, going shopping together, digging holes on the beach, guarding the yacht and preventing stowaway cats from coming aboard. She has been sailing since a pup, enjoys meeting new friends and a good belly tickle.
